Be Proactive

Each week as I read the assigned articles and watch the clips.  It makes me want to fast forward in life a couple years when I’m out of the military and working at a veterinary clinic.   I feel like I would use these principles and teachings better at that time rather than were I am right now. However, it goes to show that I need to work harder on these things now, like The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. If I work on them now, I will be prepared for what the future brings me and the challenges that come in pursing life goals and dreams.  The habit of being proactive resonates with me. If I struggle at home with reacting to my kids instead of being proactive.  How will I be able to stay proactive with the stresses of starting a business. The times when I’m most reactive at home are when I am tired, stressed, sick, frustrated or physically hurting.  When I concentrate on basic things in life like regular exercise, sufficient sleep, and setting aside time to meditate, it becomes easier to be a better father and spouse.  I have a greater capacity to look outward than inward.  I can see how proactivity requires practice of patience like most other things in life. The next time I feel the urge to react, which will be frequent and often I will strive to pause, recognize those urges, evaluate the situation and circumstances and be proactive and positive in my response and further actions.  Without a doubt this will most likely require me to be apologetic because I may not catch myself soon enough.
